FAQ

Clear answers before you trust it.

Paunix Guard is early, source-available Windows software. The important tradeoffs are written plainly.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Arming, alarm behavior, PIN checks, guard screens, and local history are offline-first. Internet is only needed for update checks.

Why does Windows warn about the installer?

The current build is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen commonly warns on unsigned early apps. Code signing is planned before broader distribution.

Does it record what I type?

No. It may detect that keyboard or mouse input happened while armed, but it must not record the text, keys, clicks, clipboard, files, or screenshots.

Can it stop every Windows shortcut?

No user-mode app can promise that. Paunix Guard blocks common paths and triggers alarms on session/desktop changes, but OS-level security still matters.
